Third World Gifts & Handarts to Hold Open House Saturday
Orange, CA – This December, Third World Gifts & Handarts will celebrate the holidays in its new Tustin Street home, after moving from its downtown Orange spot where it had nestled for nearly 12 years.
The new shopping center — also home to Darya restaurant — hums with activity, though not always on the back side, which is where Third World Gifts & Handarts is now located. But longtime director Sue Fenwick notes that the colorful window displays still attract walk-in traffic — and best of all, the rent is lower.
“That means more funds go toward helping the poor,” the Yorba Linda resident explained.
That’s what Third World Gifts & Handarts is all about. Since its founding in Anaheim 36 years ago, the nonprofit organization has helped artisans from impoverished areas around the world (and within the United States) to sell their crafts for a fair price.
