Houston, TX – Vanessa Wodehouse wanted to create a unique toy store.

When she opened Big Blue Whale Toys & Curiosities in July at 237 W. 19th St. in the Heights, she stocked the store with toys include classic, vintage and handmade items selected during a trip to New York City.

There you’ll find old-fashioned pleasures such as the Simon electronic memory game that debuted in the ’70s, cap guns, books and puzzles and giant candy necklaces.
