Urban Expositions names Jim Walker show director for LAMKT

Urban Expositions has named Jim Walker Show Director for LAMKT. In his new role, Walker will oversee and direct the newly expanded show team for the semi-annual LAMKT at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  He will report to Dirk von Gal, vice president, Urban Expositions.

With Urban for more than seven years, Walker is also show director for the annual Christmas Cash & Carry shows in Los Angeles, Portland and San Francisco. He also oversees sales efforts for the Cash & Carry sections within a number of other Urban shows, including SF Market and the Seattle Gift Show.

The LAMKT sales force is also growing as other Urban team members add this show to existing sales responsibilities they have within the Urban portfolio. Among them, Chris Menefee will work on sales for LAMKT’s Design LA, Makers’ Market, World Style and Vintage sections and Erica Davidson will focus on Design LA, Makers’ Market and Personal Style sections. They join other team members, including Bryan Cook, sales manager, World Style and Vintage; Nora Wade, sales manager, Gift, Boardwalk, Personal Style; Joseph Lee, sales manager, Jewelry Cash & Carry; and Sashin Patel, sales manager, Jewelry Cash & Carry.

“Jim’s new position and our expanded sales team represent the next steps in the strategic LAMKT rebranding and exhibition floor reorganizational process we initiated for the former California Gift Show several months ago,” explained von Gal. “Jim’s background and extensive experience will help us build and shape this show so it continues to effectively respond to the ever-changing market and specialized needs of our Southern California and western region retail buyer base. “

The January 2016 edition of LAMKT will feature a brand new layout that brings together exhibits previously featured in two separate halls on two different floors at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Now housed entirely in South Hall, the dynamic new, expanded floor plan will enhance traffic flow and offer easier navigation. The new layout will also allow for improved categorization of product and a clear delineation between sections, including show mainstays like Gifts, Design LA, Makers’ Market, Personal Style, Boardwalk, World Style, Vintage and Jewelry Cash & Carry.
