White Rock tea shop nominated for national awardBy Kelley ScarsbrookTheNowNewspaper.com

White Rock – A cup of tea with Angelic Teapot’s owner Maureen Coroliuc will do wonders for anyone’s spirit.

Her welcoming demeanor and genuine desire to help each customer who walks through her door is felt throughout the store.

“I’m an avid tea drinker and I love treasured gifts. It’s really how I came up with the idea of Angelic Teapot. I have a very spiritual side and I love angels and, I thought, why not put the two together?” Coroliuc said with a laugh.

Despite some naysayers in the beginning when she and her husband Jeff launched two years ago, the store has steadily grown.

“A quote that resonates with me is: Dare to colour outside of the lines. And I think it is very appropriate,” said Coroliuc. “Some people told me that putting treasured gifts together with tea products was a bad idea; however, I trusted my own instincts to do what I thought other women would like.”

Coroliuc’s instincts were right on the mark. In less than a year, she and her husband had to move their business from the original location on Johnston Street to a larger location on Marine Drive. Since then, she has seen their profits go up 300 per cent.
