Zia Sun Offers a Little Piece of Telluride
Telluride, CO – Owning a toy and gift store in a small town is a great way to meet all sorts of different people: vacationers looking for a piece of Telluride to bring home with them; locals in search of a unique gift; lookeeloos cruising down main street with no particular agenda.
Paul and Christine Reich have owned and operated Zia Sun — a shop featuring an eclectic mish mash of everything from toys, gifts and greeting cards to custom engraved knives — for the past 10 years, and said that it’s enabled them to be fully functioning members of Telluride’s community and economy. Aside from their distinctive sun logo, passersby may have noticed the standing black bear statue that is often holding a balloon or some other curiosity.
Zia Sun’s four-pointed sun logo represents astrology’s four elements — Earth, wind, fire and water — and is an apt characterization of the many different items patrons will find within the little shop. Christine said that’s kind of the point — they wanted to pack as many interesting things as possible into its small footprint.
