Country Charm Candles named Small Business of the Year
Jacksonville — It is impossible not to be overwhelmed when you walk through the front door of the little gift shop on U.S. Highway 79 E.
The menagerie of odors which waft throughout the store’s front door with a breeze are enough to give anyone pause, except maybe the three-person team running the store.
Country Charm Candles was chosen by the Jacksonville Economic Development Cor-poration as the 2010 Small Business of the Year.
For Sherry and Chuck Shaw, the owners, the award was unexpected.
“I had no idea,” Chuck said.. “We appreciate all the local support. We have a lot of support from all the smaller communities around here.”
It is those little local communities and supporters which have kept the shop open for the past 10 years, and local people have been responsible for getting the store customers from as far away as Israel, Chuck said.
