Museum Store Sunday experiences support from local communities
Museum Store Sunday, held Sunday, Nov. 28, experienced support from local communities surrounding cultural institutions around the globe.
Susan Tudor, director of retail operations at the Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens, and co-chair of Museum Store Sunday, released a statement about this year’s event.
“We are thrilled with the success of Museum Store Sunday 2021! Over 1,800 cultural institutions around the world participated in this annual day of museum store advocacy — hosting special events, offering discounts and giveaways, and more. This year we also collaborated with Blackwing, maker of the iconic pencil used by award-winning creatives throughout the 20th century, on a limited edition Museum Store Sunday pencil. These special boxes of pencils were sold exclusively at Museum Store Sunday participating museum stores around the country — selling out at many of the stores!
This Museum Store Sunday, the community showed up ready to shop and support their local museums, and we are grateful to all for celebrating with us. Check out the #MuseumStoreSunday hashtag on social media to explore posts from participating museums, vendors, and shoppers. It was exciting to follow along and see how these institutions and patrons around the globe were experiencing the day.”
The next annual Museum Store Sunday will take place on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022. For more information, visit www.museumstoresunday.org.
