Buffalo Games Inc. Partners with Child Life Council; Award winning games to be donated for therapeutic play
Buffalo, NY (March 7, 2007) – Buffalo Games, the makers of multiple award-winning party games and jigsaw puzzles have partnered with the Child Life Council in an effort to make life more fun and rewarding for children undergoing challenging life events. Buffalo Games will provide roughly 1,500 free games to approximately 470 hospitals nationwide offering child life programs.
Games include award winning titles Imaginiff and Last Word. According to the Child Life Council, play is an essential, natural part of childhood. Play facilitates healing, coping, mastery, self-expression, creativity, achievement and learning, and is vital to a child’s optimal growth and development. “These games appeal to a wide variety of people and will create hours of enjoyment with friends and family,” says Paul Dedrick, president of Buffalo Games. “These games are sure to lift spirits and put focus back on family fun,” he added.
Imaginiff was recently granted a Game of the Year Award by Creative Child Magazine in the category of party board games. The game also won the 4th Annual Teachers’ Choice Award for the Family from Learning Magazine. The revised edition of the game for 2006 makes “the funniest game you can imagine” even funnier with over 100 new or revised Imaginiff question cards. Last Word, a game focused on word play, recall and vocabulary has been the recipient of Creative Child Magazine’s Seal of Excellence Award and was also named Toy of the Week by Playthings Magazine.
Child life professionals strive to reduce the negative impact of stressful or traumatic life events and situations that affect the development, health and well-being of infants, children, youth and families. “Play is a key component of how children cope with stress, and these games will make a great addition to our ongoing efforts to support children and families,” says Erin Munn, Child Life Clinical Specialist at John’s Hopkins Children’s Center and President of Child Life Council. “We’re excited to be collaborating with Buffalo Games and appreciate their efforts in getting these games to child life programs across the country.”
