Get Your GoatBy Marguerite MarshColumbus Alive

It’s not every day that you meet someone who owns a goat farm. It’s even less frequently that you meet someone who not only raises goats, but milks them and hand-crafts goat milk products.

Yet that’s exactly what Kim Mash, of Chickenmash Farm, does. And her gift shop in Grove City is the perfect place to display her wares.

Mash hand-milks the goats twice a day and makes the goat-milk soap sold in the store from scratch. But it’s not just your run-of-the-mill soap. Mash has created unique combinations such as Coconut Lime, Rosemary Mango, Oatmeal Lavender, Citrus Basil and Warm Gingerbread.

And if that wasn’t enough TLC, she hand-wraps each bar of soap in fabric with colors corresponding to the ingredients. She also makes the coordinating lotions and body sprays from goat’s milk. “I like it all to match,” she says.

And don’t forget the handmade candles, made with soy wax—many of them in fragrances to compliment the goat-milk soap. Bath salts, foot creams and lip balm round out the scented offerings.

Chickenmash Farm Gift Shop also offers other hand-made items, such as bookmarks and 100-percent cotton washcloths crocheted by Mash’s mother and grandmother.
