Robinson brings ‘New Creations’ to Darlington hospitalBy Candace Jarrett

Darlington — Brenda Robinson is a woman who turned a rough time in her life into something productive with the success of her business, New Creations.

“New Creations was inspired by my mother, Thomasina Wearing, who died three years ago,” Robinson said. “She was sick and spent a lot of time in the hospital and when people would come to visit, there wasn’t a place in the hospital for them to stop and get her something.”

Robinson opened her own gift shop in McLeod Medical Center-Darlington, where her mother was a patient, in August and said the business is doing really well so far.

“At that time when my mother was here, there was not gift shop,” she said. “If people were coming to visit patients after traveling a long way, they would still have to find somewhere in Darlington to get flowers or a gift instead of just stopping at the gift shop on the way over to the patient’s room. When you’re tired, you don’t want to have to do that.”
