Newcomers Bring International and Green Resources to Three Home Textiles Market Week Venues

White Plains, NY – The summer 2009 Home Textiles Market Week® in New York will feature a fresh mix of international and domestic resources, as well as an influx of “green” and sustainable products, with more than 40 companies joining the market’s nearly 500 mid-to-high-end home fashions suppliers this summer.

The semi-annual market, which is produced and promoted cooperatively by the New York International Gift Fair®(NYIGF®) at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94, 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 W New York®, will run Friday, August 14, through Thursday, August 20.

“Eco-friendly is on-trend in home textiles, and several market newcomers specialize in ‘green’ products,” said Dorothy Belshaw, GLM senior vice president and NYIGF directory. “In addition, a wealth of new resources from Canada, France, Japan, India and Pakistan will provide buyers with easy access to unique merchandise from around the world.”

Of the companies new to Home Textiles Market Week, several produce environmentally-responsible merchandise, or import products through Fair Trade agreements with developing countries. For example, Table Manors offers a line of biodegradable placemats and napkins; Green 3 specializes in organic cotton wearables; and Sustainable Threads carries contemporary home and personal wear goods sourced through Fair Trade arrangements.

Twelve companies will join NYIGF-both in At Home featuring Home Textiles at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and in other NYIGF divisions. These include: Cotton of the Nile; Designer’s Guild USA; Green 3; Kat Burki Home; The Koko Company; Linen Way; Mingei Japan; Papillon Linens & Dreamfit™; Sin in Linen; Sivaana; Sorcha; and Sustainable Threads. Some 200 home fashion resources will be located at the Javits Center.

Some 25 companies are new or expanded at 7 W New York, located at 34th Street and Fifth Avenue, for Home Textiles Market Week. To name a few: Bodrum; Colomba Living; Creative Bath Products, Inc.; Katha Diddèl; Mohagany by Ra Home; Omniware; Star Embroidery; Tozai Home; Two Lumps of Sugar; and many more.

Six companies will debut in new permanent showroom locations at 230 Fifth Avenue, New York Market Center™ for Home Textiles Market Week. These include: Abhinav International, Inc.; Abrahami Rugs & Décor, Inc.; CGG Home Fashions; Coelima USA, Inc.; Ocean Exim, Inc.; and Park B. Smith, Ltd.

Together, the three New York Home Textiles Market Week entities feature nearly 500 mid-to-high-end home textiles suppliers, showcasing the newest bed and bath fashions, table linens, kitchen textiles, towels, decorative accessories, area rugs, window treatments and decorative fabrics. Onsite buyer amenities also are offered at each venue, as well as a combined market directory listing all participants, free inter-venue shuttle transportation and discounted travel and hotel rates.

Home Textiles Market Week opens at 7 W New York on Friday, August 14; and at the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) and 230 Fifth Avenue on Saturday, August 15.
