Newly-opened Two Dazzle! offers unique giftsBy Mary Alan WoodwardVoice-Tribune.com

Chandeliers created out of glistening silverware aren’t standard fare at most home décor stores. Neither are whimsical picnic-table ants the size of hamsters, or kitchen clocks so animated, they seem eager to jump off the wall and start cooking. But they all fit right in at Two Dazzle!, a colorful and cozy home décor and gift shop that opened on June 28 at 3819 Willis Ave.

The enterprise is a labor of love for Kimberly Marshall and Ronda Simmons, two of the four children of longtime St. Matthews residents Ron and Ann Hettinger. Both young women, who have extensive backgrounds in the retail business world, realized that the property, located off Breckenridge Lane, was perfectly suited for their needs.

“St. Matthews is perfect for us: We’re familiar with it, and our family and friends live here,” Marshall said. “This building used to be a children’s consignment shop. We gutted the whole place and put just as much work and detail into choosing what we’ve put on the shelves. We try to give everyone a fun experience, and I think we can pretty much find something for everybody.”

Shoppers are greeted with a wide variety of gift ideas that range from sweet to sassy, including silk floral arrangements and paper placemats with matching napkins tucked inside handy plastic tubes. Hand-painted martini glasses, picture frames and metal trays emblazoned with Louisville’s favorite motif, the fleur-de-lis, and cheerful doormats are among the popular choices for weddings, anniversaries and birthdays.
