Redding, CA — Two businesses in the north state embrace innovation and creativity to help get through the economic downtown. One auto repair shop caters to women and has recently launched a new service that picks up customers’ cars and services them. Another partners with area businesses to create baskets of goods and coupons for services handed out to newcomers.

California Auto Repair and Smog is a car repair shop with a decidedly feminine touch. With its immaculate, lavender-scented facility, you’d think you were walking into a spa instead of an auto repair shop.

“Many women and even many men are intimated when walking into an auto repair shop,” said Barbara White, owner of CARS. “At CARS, people can instantly feel relaxed.”
