Women in Business: Sherry DeBrayBy Paul W. SullivanMontgomeryAdvertiser.com

Sherry DeBray is not your average gift store owner, or even interior decorator.

She does both out of It’Za Gift and Interiors, which is located at 8127 Vaughn Road down from Chappy’s Deli in the Peppertree Shopping Center in east Montgomery.

The Troy native also is the author of two books, and rep resents artists who want to sell their creations world wide. Not surprisingly, one of DeBray’s biggest chal lenges is balancing her workload.

She is accustomed to the retail business. The Mont gomery resident operated Lasting Impressions in the Sturbridge shopping center for several years before sell ing the store in 2005.

After about three years away from retail, she opened It’Za Gift in April 2008. In be tween running the two stores, she wrote “Desperate Christian Women” and promoted the inspirational book through dozens of events and book signings. She also has authored “The Teacher’s Gift,” which was published in 2004 and illus trated by Montgomery artist Tommy Cauthen.

DeBray still does some freelance writing and is working on a third book that she hopes will be finished in 2011.
