After tax time, the last thing you probably want to think about are your finances. But this is the best time to start new methods for filing and sorting your expenses, especially if you are a freelancer or a small business owner. Thankfully there are several free iPhone or Android applications that can help organize your work life, especially on the go.

Andrew Norcross, a freelance Web designer and developer in Tampa, Fla., says that a few programs loaded on his Android-based HTC Incredible have helped make running his business, AndrewNorcross.com, much easier.

“I use Expensify, which allows me to keep track of my expenses, which I am notoriously bad at,” he says. Expensify (also available on the iPhone) lets the user take a picture of a receipt and tag and classify it as “meals and entertainment,” “research” or “travel” and immediately upload it to the website.
