Jewelry Designer Anna Sheffield Shops At The Ukrainian Museum
Northern New Mexico-born and NYC-based jewelry designer Anna Sheffield says she’s inspired by the concrete jungle that we live in. With a past CFDA nomination under her belt and many successful collaborations with everyone from 3.1 Philip Lim to Marc Jacobs to Target Go International, her work with haute costume jewelry, sterling, gold, and precious gems has been a New York staple for years now. She’s a resident of the East Village, and unexpectedly and accidentally, stumbled upon one of her now-favorite shopping destinations just a few blocks from her apartment.
There are few activities I love more than meandering in NYC and stumbling on some kind of random gem of a place that seems to magically appear (like a mirage) and wondering, “Why have I never seen this before?” I felt that way when I went to the Ukrainian Museum this winter. It’s only 4 blocks from my apartment and I hadn’t even known it was there. I am really inspired by traditional arts & crafts and the Ukraine has rich culture of both, as well as the ever-inspiring implementation of amulets (an obsession for a jewelry designer like me).
