Shop blends coffee, books, giftsBy Mary Daisey ShockleyDelmarvaNow.com

Fenwick Island — Behind the coffee bar at The Bookend Cafe isn’t the only place visitors will find a unique blend.

The new cafe, which opened in April, is one part coffee shop, one part used bookstore and one part gift store.

The idea came to owners Janilyn Elias and Jeff Fetterman after two shops closed that offered the same items.

“There had been a used book shop and a coffee shop and both had closed,” Fetterman said. “After a month of thinking that it would be a great idea if someone put those two concepts together, we decided to do it.”

According to Fetterman, the new shop has been well-received by the community.

“The biggest appeal is that a lot of people come in looking for the bookstore and realize that they can now also get a cappuccino, coffee or bagel,” Fetterman said. “It’s one-stop shopping.”
