Tasmania, AU – HANG on to your party hats ladies, the Country Women’s Association Elizabeth St gift shop turns 70 today.

Customers can eat cake and drink champagne with volunteers as they celebrate one of Hobart’s most loved shopping destinations.

Opened in Murray St in 1942, the shop moved to its present premises in 1951. It was started by farmers’ wives with surplus goods to sell for extra cash.

It is one of the longest continuously opened shops in Tasmania. And it’s not just gifts that make the shop.
