Ambiente 2013: Strong Brands, Innovations and Trends in the ‘Dining’ Section

Ambiente, the international consumer-goods fair in Frankfurt am Main, is the leading event in the consumer-goods industry. Whether in the Table, Kitchen and Household sections or in the worlds of Giving or Living, visitors to Ambiente have the benefit of an optimal hall layout, which means they are only ever a short step from the exhibitors they are looking for. Some 4,500 exhibitors from inside and outside Germany will be showcasing new products for the coming business year in 27 different halls. ‘Anyone involved in the global consumer-goods market comes to Frankfurt in April for Ambiente. There are simply no alternatives to this business and inspiration platform,’ says Nicolette Naumann, Vice President Ambiente/Tendence. The unparalleled range of goods on offer is supported by an extensive complementary programme. Numerous events present new trends and key issues in the areas of Dining, Giving and Living.

The Dining section occupies the whole of the eastern end of the exhibition grounds. Here, buyers will find strong brands, innovations and trends in the areas of Table, Kitchen and Household. The comprehensive range is unrivalled in terms of breadth and depth. It covers the complete spectrum of sales channels. Moreover, as this is a multi-sector trade fair, Ambiente also enables synergies to develop. “Especially when it comes to the increasingly important supplementary product ranges, Ambiente is unbeatable as an efficient order platform for buyers,” says Thomas Kastl, Director Dining. In the clearly structured product groups, buyers can get a comprehensive overview of the market, forge targeted contacts and place orders face to face.

Dining highlights at Ambiente 2013
The extensive complementary programme at Ambiente offers valuable suggestions for the coming business year and gives visitors the opportunity to efficiently get information about trends and new products.

Partner nation France: La France un art de vivre
This year, as part of the partner nation concept, France will be showcasing its products and services with the motto, ‘La France un art de vivre’. When we acquired Olivia Putman as ambassador to the project and curator of the special presentation, we gained one of the most prominent personalities on the French design scene. Designer and artistic director of the famous Studio Putman, she will be staging a show devoted to the French art of living in the special exhibition area in the Foyer of Hall 4.1.

Contract Business: opportunities for contract business
More than 200 exhibitors at Ambiente 2013 will be presenting their product ranges and solutions in the commercial furnishings and fittings area. For the second time, Ambiente is offering a targeted package of measures with this thematic focus and therefore becomes of even greater interest to decision-makers such as furnishings experts, interior architects, restaurateurs and upscale hoteliers. Thanks to a digital matchmaking platform, company information can already be found in the run-up to Ambiente and appointments for personal contacts at the fair made in advance. In addition, hotel guides show the different concepts for hotel facilities in top hotels, ‘Steigenberger Frankfurter Hof’ and ’25hours Hotel The Goldman’. There will be fascinating talks for buyers and decision-makers in the specially furnished Contract Business Lounge in Hall 4.2.

Ambiente-Trends 2013: open to new ideas, (Galleria 1)
Ambiente Trends 2013 in Galleria 1 will demonstrate a safe route through the jungle of different styles. Here, trend experts from design consultants bora.herke.palmisano will stage four trend worlds and will use concrete examples to offer important advice about what new colours, shapes, designs and materials the future will bring. The impressions formed from the exhibits will be supported in the trend talks offered by the three design experts during the fair.

Solutions: staging innovations (Foyer Hall 4.0)
Once again, Ambiente, the world’s leading trade fair, will turn the spotlight onto its exhibitors’ innovations in the area of Table, Kitchen and Household. Following a successful premiere as part of Ambiente 2012, London product designer Sebastian Bergne will also be curating the up-coming special show in the Foyer of Hall 4.0. In his design, Bergne will once again be leaning towards a user-oriented concept: clear and comprehensible – the optimum setting for new materials, techniques and design features.

Design Plus: award with tradition (Galleria 1)
A success for 30 years! Messe Frankfurt introduced the ‘Design Plus’ competition in 1983 to give greater publicity to products which were breaking new ground on the design front. It is organised by the ‘Form and Life Initiative’ and is sponsored by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, the German Design Council (Frankfurt) and the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Berlin). This award is given by an international jury using strict criteria covering design, practicality and use of materials.

Talents: dining ideas from international newcomers (Hall 4.0)
The successful ‘Talents’ promotional programme brings creativity and business together. Selected up-and-coming designers have the opportunity, at Ambiente, to present their work, free of charge, to an international trade and professional public. Eleven ‘talents’ from eight countries have made it to the final selection in the Dining section.

Kitchen innovation of the year (Foyer Halls 5.1/6.1)
With the consumer award ‘Kitchen innovation of the year’, the LifeCare initiative rewards especially user-friendly products. This annually presented public award covers the following product groups: ‘Kitchen furniture and fittings’, ‘Small and large electrical appliances’, ‘Cooking and kitchen equipment’ and ‘Kitchen accessories’. The coveted award will be presented for the seventh time at Ambiente 2013.

Pro-K product of the year 2013 (Hall 5.1)
The winners of the ‘Product of the Year 2013’ competition run by the pro-K Industrieverband Halbzeuge und Konsumprodukte aus Kunststoff e.V. (Pro-K Industrial Association of Semi-Finished Products and Consumer Products Made of Plastic) have been chosen. A panel of experts has decided to give the award to a total of 18 consumer products made from plastic. The latter impress in their category because of the successful combination of innovation, design and functionality in plastic. The award-winning products will be presented in an exhibition at Ambiente.

Café Cinema (Hall 4.0)
During Ambiente, the Café Cinema will be offering room for short films on the theme of ‘Table tales: the way to the heart is through the stomach’. Young film makers, as well as students of film and media studies, from twelve countries submitted entries as part of the 2012 Clip Award, a project of the Günther Raithel Foundation education programme, Kahla. A selection of the best work will be shown in the café, which was designed by Veit Streitenberger.
