This Goose Produced a Golden Egg in Rochester
Rochester, NH – When Barbara English first moved to SouthCoast from Whitman, it was the eighteenth-century house she bought in Rochester that brought her to the area. A real estate agent by training, English loved antique homes, and when she came to the area in 1987, she moved with the intention of also starting a shop that would become The Gingham Goose.
“It started out as more of a country shop, with a lot of consignment pieces,” says English. “But gradually, it turned over to country home decor, and now to the primitive look.”
Primitive is a decorating style that is characterized by simple, early American-inspired pieces.
