Six Personal Care & Wellness Best New Product Awards Presented to NY NOW Exhibitors

Six companies were named Personal Care + Wellness Best New Product Award recipients today in connection with the summer 2013 debut of NY NOW®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®), which runs Saturday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 21, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. These six honorees also are eligible for NY NOW’s first-ever “Best of Lifestyle” Award, which will be determined by online balloting during the show.

The Soap & Paper Factory received “Best of Show” honors for Deco Collection Hand Stirred Soap. Additional awards were presented in the categories of Bath & Body, Beauty Accessory, Cosmetic & Fragrance, Natural/Organic and Packaging. Winners and finalists in each category were selected by a panel of trade and consumer publication editors based on several criteria, including innovative design, creative use of materials/construction, and use of new materials/technology.

The summer 2013 winners and finalists, selected from 65 products, are:

BEST OF SHOW:

Soap & Paper Factory (Congers, NY) for its Deco Collection Hand Stirred Soap, hand wrapped in bold designs and finished off with a wax seal.

BATH & BODY:

Winner: Agraria (Los Angeles, CA) for its Agraria Bath Bar Collection, 100% vegetable-based soap that is triple-milled, contains Olive Oil, vitamin E-rich Shea Butter, Yucca Oil, Kukui Oil grape seed oil and sea fennel.

Finalist: Porcelain™ Company (Huntsville, AL) for its Elemental Gift Set “RESERVED”.

Finalist: Olivina Napa Valley (Franklin, TN) for its Sandalwood & Amber Body Butter.

BEAUTY ACCESSORY:

Winner: Shelley Kyle Parfums (Atlanta, GA) for its Large Powder Puff, a body and linen powder with powder puff set.

Finalist: Naked Princess (Beverly Hills, CA) for its Naked Shine Lip Gloss.

Finalist: Lady Primrose (Grand Prairie, TX) for its Tryst Powder Jar.

COSMETIC & FRAGRANCE:

Winner: LOVE NATURE NYC™ (Brooklyn, NY) for The Bohème Candle Collection, each of which is hand poured and made with natural soy wax, cotton wick and a phthalate-free essential and fragrance oil blend.

Finalist: Serene House® (Sturtevant, WI) for its YOYO Black.

Finalist: Shelley Kyle Inc. (Atlanta, GA) for its Tiramani Fragrance by Shelley Kyle.

NATURAL/ORGANIC:

Winner: Anjolie Ayurveda (Hastings on Hudson, NY) for The Botanical Collection: Eau de Parfum, made with essential oils, botanicals and woods.

Finalist: Lotus Love Beauty™ (San Diego, CA) for its Lotus Love Beauty Holiday Bath Salts.

Finalist: Worker B (Minneapolis, MN) for its Worker B Beeswax/Camelina Oil Candle.

PACKAGING:

Winner: K. Hall Studio (St. Louis, MO) for its Barr-Co Soap Shop™, soaps covered with colored paper covers.

Finalist: Dollars & Scents LLC (Jamaica, NY) for its Fraiche.

Finalist: Boîte à Savon – La Maizon (Simi Valley, CA) for its Mondrian Collection

“There are many new stand out products in these categories,” said Melissa Engongoro, Personal Care + Wellness sales manager. “These winners and finalists earned special recognition for their multi-faceted innovation.”

All six winning products automatically qualify for consideration in the first NY NOW “Best of Lifestyle” Award, which will be determined through online voting at www.redclay.com/nynow. “Peoples’ Choice” balloting runs August 17-20, and the winner will be announced on August 21.

The Best New Product Award judges were: Tina Benitez-Eves, Gifts & Decorative Accessories; Pan Demetrakakes, Giftware News; Nancy Jeffries, Happi Magazine; Paula Kajankova, Insiders Guide to Spas/Spirituality & Health; Patricia Norins, GIFT SHOP; Candice Sabatini, Beautynews NYC; Jolene Turner, American Salon; Jean Warshaw, Beauty Store Business; and Victoria Wurdinger, Salon Today.
