Pueri Elemental Selects New Sustainable Raw Materials For Its 2014 Bop Bag Characters
Pueri Elemental is proud to announce plans to manufacture its newest additions to the lovable Eco-Bonk line using REPREVE® recycled fibers. The new material will be used to make the removable, and machine washable covers for the award-winning inflatable bop bag toys. The fabric will be made from post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic water bottles, fiber waste, and fabrics. “Our priority is to be accountable for every toy we make and lessen the impact in landfills and our oceans,” said Donna Brin, Owner of Pueri Elemental. In the U.S., it is reported that less than 30% of all plastic bottles are recycled. Brin feels the toy industry can do better with its use of plastics, as well as with petroleum, often used in the manufacture of toys. “Just five pounds of REPREVE fiber will conserve the equivalent of a gallon of gasoline,” said Brin.
The inflatable form of Eco-Bonk is made from a non-phthalate vinyl material that biodegrades naturally into the earth in a span of 9 months to 5 years as compared to ordinary PVC, which can take thousands of years to break down.
To reflect the product changes, Pueri Elemental has updated its packaging to a simple, clean and modern design that is suitable for shipping on its own.
Lily Gibbon, Emma Owl, and Noah Whale join the existing wild and wooly animals in the Eco-Bonk Wildlife Series to make six characters in all.
