Concept: Home goods and accessories

Leslie Stevenson felt her store’s name should reflect the artistic Hampden neighborhood where it’s located. In Watermelon Sugar takes its name from a Richard Brautigan novel and Stevenson, owner and art director of the store, says it piques customers’ curiosity. When in her twenties, Stevenson, an architecture and interior design graduate, fell in love with the quirky Hampden neighborhood and decided to open an affordable home accessories store. Stevenson has been operating this two-room shop for over 15 years. In Watermelon Sugar sells furniture, lamps, accessories, bath/body products, jewelry and tote bags and a small-curated selection of paper products.
