Cog & Pearl stands out for its whimsical selection of mostly local handmade items. The store features jewelry, personal and home accessories, some apparel, books, art as well as cards. Price points range from two dollars up to $450. Kristin Overson and Seth Walter opened the store in 2002 in the busy Fifth Avenue retail corridor. Overson says the two wanted to set up a store that had a gallery-like feel but was still accessible and affordable for any gift-giver. The store’s biggest selling items include jewelry, personal accessories as well as items like the handmade terrariums by Twig Terrariums.
