Best-Sellers in Portland, Oregon
Tilde | www.tildeshop.com
Tilde, a modern lifestyle shop and art gallery, is located in the historic southeast neighborhood of Sellwood. Owner Debbe Hamada feels fortunate residents in the neighborhood, like most of Portland, are dedicated to shopping local and supporting the businesses within their community. No less than 40 percent of Tilde’s product mix comes from designers local to Portland.
Hamada said the store’s specialty is carrying items that make the perfect unique gift. Most items are handmade, with a biography of the maker and the process prominently displayed.
“We carry women’s accessories, such as handbags, jewelry, scarves, wallets and watches — these items make up at least 70 percent of our stock,” Hamada said. “The rest of our shop is full of home goods, tabletop items, artwork (prints and smaller original artwork) and stationery.
“We’ve chosen products we adore made directly by an individual maker or small design company. The result is a shop that displays our love of current, urban designs of today.”
