In its previous avatar as Brittain’s, the store Vieuxtemps helped with bridal registry services for Magda Pelzer, who is now the store’s co-owner. The fact that Pelzer wanted to purchase the store with her mother as partner, was what convinced Ms. Brittain and her mother to sell to them. Pelzer kept the same lines but changed the store’s name to Vieuxtemps, a name that means “old times.” Her mother, porcelain artist Pamela Tidwell, lives in Georgia but provides the shop with its line of fine porcelain collectibles, which she creates and hand-paints in botanical themes. Bridal registry is still a booming business, as witnessed in the brightly lit china room toward the rear. The front of the shop displays lovely gifts and décor items.
