Located in the city’s Soulard neighborhood, The Porch is a gift shop that’s been in business for eight years. Shop owner Cathy Weldon worked as an event planner before launching her store.

Her father bought an empty building across from Soulard Farmers Market, lived there for a while, and suggested Weldon put her skills to work and open her own store. She started out selling vintage furniture. Today the store with the welcoming bright purple and pink walls sells brand-name boutique items and wine. The Porch caters to a wide customer base – from downtown office workers to tourists, and from young apartment dwellers in the neighborhood to empty nesters.
