Catching up with Paul Cosaro, 40 Under 40 Class of 2017 By Debbie Eisele

Mananging partner, Picnic Time Family of Brands

With a strong background in management consulting and strategic planning, Paul Cosaro transitioned his family’s business, to the next level and became managing partner in 2011, and received the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award in 2017. Cosaro is the managing partner for Picnic Time Family of Brands and his success has continued. Recently, Gift Shop reached out to Cosaro to see what has transpired since winning the award.

GS: Since receiving the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award, what amazing new adventures have you undertaken?

PC: As a company, Picnic Time has taken on the Disney and Star Wars license, which is a huge win for us. This is a huge license and is off to a tremendous start. Personally, I have just recently been elected to the International Housewares Association Board of Directors, effective Oct. 1, 2019 where I will join other leaders in maximizing the success of the Home and Housewares products industry.

GS: How has receiving the Gift + Stationery 40 Under 40 Award positively impacted you, personally and professionally?

PC: Receiving the award was a confirmation of all the hard work and effort I have put into Picnic Time and making the company second to none. More importantly, this award is a testament to the team we have at Picnic Time, because if not for my teammates, I would not be where I am today.

GS: Where do you see yourself in five years?

PC: In 5 years, I see myself continuing to relentlessly strive to achieve our mission of creating products that bring family and friends together to make memories. I love what we’re doing at Picnic Time, but I love even more WHY we’re doing it. We’re trying to bring people happiness, one product at a time.

GS: What advice can you share with others in this industry about growing a career, business, or network?

PC: Be passionate about what you do. Understand why you are doing what you do. That knowledge is critically important in allowing you to commit to your goals and actually enjoy your work.  Never forget the bigger picture by getting to overwhelmed by the day to day.
