Chavez for Charity, Australian Fires Campaign By Debbie Eisele

A maker compelled to design a collection of bracelets to support the need.

In the face of such the terrible Australian wildfire tragedy, Chavez for Charity was spurred into action to make a positive difference. Chuck Roundtree, COO for Chavez for Charity, explained more about the products that are giving back to help relief efforts.

Company mission

To heighten awareness and contribute to ongoing global humanitarian efforts as well as immediate need issues that arise due to environmental or social challenges.

Chavez for Charity Australian Bracelets

How do your products serve the mission?

Chavez for Charity designs and manufactures bracelets aligned with their colors for causes campaign. Each of the eight primary charity partners is assigned one color specifically for their cause. For every bracelet purchased under that assigned color, Chavez for Charity donates 25% of net profits of those sales to that charity partner. In some instances, a cause arises out of a specific environmental or social need.

When this occurs, the company will create a specific line focused on supplying donations for that cause which might fall outside of their primary charity partnerships, such as the Australian Fires Campaign. Tina Critelli, director of production and design, saw a news report of the tragedy and was compelled to design a collection of bracelets to support the need. The five bracelet designs feature the icon image of a koala bear and come in a variety of colors.

Since launching on Jan. 8, the line has been selling out and demand has been strong from the retailers as well. This line is a limited edition collection and the company is still determining the end date for the campaign based on demand. For every bracelet sold, Chavez for Charity will donate 25% of net profits to WIRES Wildlife Rescue Organization, which has been rescuing and caring for animals in need for over 30 years and is the country’s largest wildlife rescue organization. Chavez for Charity loves animals and wanted to do their part to help these animals challenged by the fires and destruction of their habitat.

What are the plans for the future?

Chavez for Charity will continue to focus on the colors for causes initiative and develop unique, handcrafted seasonal stories to keep the line relevant for their retailers and customers. There are also plans to further develop the Erase the Hate Campaign benefiting the Matthew Shepard Foundation, which successfully launched in 2018.
