Winter 2012
Pearls of Wisdom By Becky Tyre

Displaying jewelry effectively in your store can be fun yet challenging. As these little gems illustrate, there is plenty of room for creativity and élan.

Picture frames can be used for jewelry displays on walls and on counter tops. By adding padding and cloth, jewelry can be affixed with decorative pins to feature special pieces in an interesting fashion. Using screen or loosely woven fabric instead of padded fabric can have the frame display a variety of earrings for a larger presentation.

Pendants and charms are placed inside a partially hollowed book. The jewelry is stamped with letters and words, making the book a relevant part of a literal display.

Metal and wire birdcages are favorites among retailers for jewelry displays. This tall, round cage attracts attention and utilizes very little counter space. It is more interesting than a typical earring spinner rack, yet fits well with other traditional jewelry displays.

Shovel-style sign holders become display stands for pendant necklaces. The sign stands’ weathered appearance adds a vintage look to the display. The wall behind the display shelf, papered with old book pages, continues the theme.
