Gift Shop Plus Spring 2021
Self-Care Simplicity By Debbie Eisele

Bath and body products take a minimalist approach to effortless chic

According to Pinterest 2021 personal care trend predictions, “skinimalism is the new glow up.” What does this mean? It means shoppers want less make-up, but seek natural products that reflect an “effortlessly chic routine that is simple and sustainable.”

“Self-care is all the rage right now as people find small ways to bring comfort and lightness to their day. We have 32 new products for just this purpose,” Leslie Bradford- Scott from Walton Wood Farm shared. Products that help soothe over-sanitized skin and dry lips — from mask wearing — are in high demand.

Soothing face masks are an essential self-care item, and with plenty of time at home, shoppers are wanting to soothe their skin. “(The) most popular sales in 3-packs are Mixed and Fruit,” shared Keri Willis from Honey House Naturals. Mixed Face Masks include fragrances in peppermint, tangerine, raspberry-pomegranate; and Fruit offers mango, vanilla berry, raspberry-pomegranate.

According to a SPINS report other products sought by consumers in 2020 included foot care and liquid soaps. The report stated as 2021 progresses, consumers will still focus on simplicity. Soaps are still a favorite — especially if they are natural and offer nice aromas.

Honey House Naturals emphasized fragrances do play a role in relaxation. And its shoppers’ have expressed a keen interest in vanilla and lavender scents, especially for the online sales of its Bee Bar, a solid lotion.

Walton Wood Farm emphasized scents that energize and uplift, or provide calm and relaxation are its customers’ top picks. “Our top-sellers are peppermint and grapefruit maple. Ingredients that soothe over-sanitized skin — shea butter and cocoa butter for deep moisturizing, and hemp seed oil and green tea which reduce inflammation and promotes skin repair,” Bradford-Scott shared.

“Footbars are most popular in cold weather to soothe and relieve cracked dry feet,” said Willis and shared popular fragrances in this product range include mint and lavender.

As the “nesting” and self-care trends continue, curate a mix to entice the senses and fulfill the need shoppers have to pamper themselves and unwind!
