Val Ristovski started her online business Valganics Handcrafted Soap, Body & More eight years ago. This Canton, Michigan business is a small business that makes vegan soap, organic body oil, aromatic essential oil sprays and natural deodorant.

Ristovski shared how her business is adjusting to the current retail climate.

How have you transitioned your selling strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic?

I have rebuilt my website platform and started doing more Facebook ads and now offer an e-gift card.

What special services, such as curbside pickup or delivery, have you implemented?

I provide USPS shipping when you spend $35 or more and receive a free gift, and I also provide local delivery drop-off.

How are you reaching out to customers during this crisis?

I am using MailChimp to send out informative newsletters and sending Facebook posts.

Is your business offering any new programs to assist others in the community at this time?

Yes, I have put a bulk order of hand sanitizer in that I am waiting to receive so I can offer it to my customers and members of my local community.

How have you increased your online retail presence to adjust to social distancing?

Paid and unpaid Facebook posts and MailChimp newsletters.

What helpful tips would you like to share with other retailers during these unprecedented times?

Put yourself in the customers’ shoes and think as a customer would and how you can provide them value.
