Trends: Today & Tomorrow By Becky Tyre

Orient Express

Chinoiserie (pronounced she¯n-wäz-re¯) is a French term with reference to a European style, reflecting artistic influences from China. Eastern Asian designs are classic, but a fresh pattern is emerging and features colors other than the blue and white of traditional imported pottery. The increased popularity of lacquerware brings a modern twist to the style in home décor, but the freshest introductions were spotted on paper goods and apparel in spring and summer fashion collections.
