21 Countries Represented at Winter 2014 Artisan Resource

Artisans from 21 countries worldwide will be represented at the winter 2014 edition of Artisan Resource™, which returns in February to run concurrently with NY NOW™,the Market for Home + Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®). Artisan Resource, a one-of-a-kind market offering U.S.-based volume importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers the opportunity to meet with international artisanal producers, runs February 1-4, 2014, at New York City’s Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94.

Four countries – Cameroon, Ethiopia, Niger and Uzbekistan – will make their Artisan Resource debut this winter. Exhibitors also hail from 17 returning countries: Afghanistan, Egypt, Guatemala, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Madagascar, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Panama, Philippines, Peru, South Africa, Tunisia and Vietnam. Four of these countries – Indonesia, Panama, Peru and Tunisia – are represented through government-sponsored pavilions.

“Artisan Resource continues its mission to introduce buyers to undiscovered, untapped global artisan sources, and we are delighted to welcome participants from 21 countries to the marketplace,” said Allison Rober, Artisan Resource sales manager. “The Show features a wealth of new resources for attendees, as well as some veteran exhibitors such as ABN, Tilonia and Zardozi, all of which are returning for their fourth consecutive Show this winter.”

The successful Market Incubator Program – created in 2013 through a partnership between GLM, HAND/EYE Fund and ByHand Consulting – also will return to the show with 13 companies, including eight first-time participants: Bibi Hanum (hand woven textiles from Uzbekistan); Conserve India (up-cycled personal accessories); Entonto Beth Artisans (handcrafted jewelry and baskets from Ethiopia); Indigo (Guatemalan home décor and personal accessories), La Red (hand-woven and hand-embroidered home and personal accessories from Mexico); Lila Handicrafts (traditional textiles from Pakistan); Rope International (handmade fiber home décor from South India); and Tuareg Fine Jewelry (tribal Tuareg silver goods from Niger). Through the Market Incubator program, emerging artisan enterprises can exhibit in theArtisan Partners booth for three consecutive Shows, at gradually increasing investment levels. Through the program, ByHand Consulting provides participants with assistance in Show preparation, buyer outreach and onsite Show assistance.

Artisan Resource is a semi-annual tradeshow which runs concurrently with NY NOW, offering a production-sourcing venue for overseas artisan enterprises to showcase their products and production capabilities – at export terms – from their country of origin. The semi-annual tradeshow is managed by GLM and organized with the assistance of ByHand Consulting. Additional information and registration is available online atwww.artisanresourceny.com.
