A Gift That Keeps on Giving
Pekin, IL – Judy Smock has a gift that keeps on giving.
The owner of Just Jude’s Creations, located at 812 Derby St. in Pekin, the talented 62-year-old freelance instructor for machine embroidery says she loves teaching her skills to others so they can make “beautiful gifts” together.
Born in Jacksonville, and raised in White Hall, Smock lived on a farm. She watched her mother sew and learned a lot of techniques and shortcuts that would follow her through life. In fact, sewing was her favorite course in junior high. “In sewing class in eighth grade whenever the teacher would leave the room I’d put everybody’s zippers in for them. The teacher would come back in and say, ‘Nice work, Judy.'”
