Ahead of the Curve Live Broadcast Returns For Summer Market With Leading Cast of U.S. Designers

Once again offering Las Vegas Market attendees an exclusive preview of the hottest new home design trends, World Market Center Las Vegas’ signature Ahead of the Curve will be back as a live broadcast for its fifth installment at the Summer Las Vegas Market and Gift+Home.

This year’s cast of top U.S. designers includes Betsy Burnham, principal designer and founder of Burnham Design; Philip Gorrivan, founder of Philip Gorrivan Design and Darren Henault, founder of Darren Henault Interiors. With their fingers on the pulse of what’s hot for the next season, these three top designers will scour the five million square feet of showrooms at World Market Center, and share their best finds during their live panel discussion and webcast, which will include a question and answer segment. Moderated by TODAY Show contributor Susanna Salk, the presentation will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 9:00 a.m. in Building C-352.

Following the presentation, Market attendees will be given the chance to have their own, signed copy of Susanna Salk’s new book, Be Your Own Decorator: Taking Confidence and Cues by the World’s Leading Designers, released on March 27 of this year.

Market goers can also follow the designers’ posts and exclusive showroom finds throughout the course of Market week via Las Vegas Market’s Twitter, Pinterest and Facebook pages.

Entering into the design by way of the fashion industry, Burnham’s design style has been called, “high-end and sophisticated while remaining warm and inviting” and an “unapologetic mix that layers patterns, textures and periods” Burnham is a self-confessed accessories addict, loves menswear-inspired fabrics and is a fervent believer in mixing thrift with couture. Originally from the East Coast, Burnham resides in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles with her husband Mark, teenaged sons Carson and Will and their two Chihuahuas Lola and Nina Garcia.

After spending several years in the business world, Gorrivan established his New York-based firm Philip Gorrivan Design in 2001. His signature look encompasses “classic life” with an unexpected style. While the components of his designs sometimes include antiques, the result is fresh and current; symmetrical, tailored arrangements, attention to open space and the careful balance of soft and bright colors. Gorrivan and his firm’s work have been featured in numerous magazines, newspapers, and websites as well as radio and television. Publications featuring his work include The New York Times, House and Garden, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Real Simple, New York Spaces, Cottages and Gardens publications, New York Social Diary, CNN, Martha Stewart Radio and 1stdibs.com. In 2007, Gorrivan was chosen as one of House and Garden’s top tastemakers and was featured as such in the 2007 issue.

Meanwhile, Henault’s extraordinary talent for creating luxurious, livable spaces has earned him awards, accolades and the attention of the most important design publications in the world, including Elle Décor, Home Style, House & Garden, Harper’s Bazaar, New York Home, House Beautiful, New York Spaces, Vanity Fair and the New York Times, among others. Henault’s highly personal, elegant style delights his clients. Whether creating a country home, city apartment, a townhouse, a yacht or a boardroom, Henault creates a feeling of comfort and intimacy, as well as a sense of permanence.

Now in its fifth installment, past designer participants in Ahead of the Curve have included Jeffrey Alan Marks, Nathan Turner and Anthony Baratta at the recent Summer 2011 Las Vegas Market; Mary McDonald, Darryl Carter, and Kishani Perera in August of 2010; Timothy Corrigan, Laura Kirar and Vicente Wolf in September 2009; and Barclay Butera, Amy Lau and Joe Nye for the inaugural Ahead of the Curve.
