Aurora World announces partnership with Support Our Troops

Aurora World, a global leader in plush toys and high-quality gift products, today announced a partnership with Support Our Troops, an organization that annually provides millions of dollars’ worth of care goods and services to American service members and their families at hundreds of locations around the globe.

To help support this mission, Aurora World is launching a special edition Support Our Troops version of Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy, the iconic rag dolls beloved by generations. $1 from every purchase of the Support Our Troops Raggedy Ann and Andy will go to the organization.

An original Aurora World design, the 16-inch dolls are dressed in sailor hats embroidered with their names and sailor shirts featuring “Support Our Troops” along with a heart-shaped flag with a yellow ribbon. Hang tags will show the Support Our Troops logo and highlight the $1 donation.

This venture marks the first time that a Raggedy Ann or Raggedy Andy was created to directly support a cause and the first time that Aurora World is donating money directly from purchase to a partner charity.

Known for hair made of red yarn and a triangle nose, Raggedy Ann was created in 1915 as a doll and introduced to the public in the 1918Raggedy Ann Stories, the first in a series of children’s books featuring the character by American writer Johnny Gruelle. In 1920 a sequel,Raggedy Andy Stories, introduced the character of her brother, Raggedy Andy, dressed in a sailor suit and hat. Raggedy Ann celebrated its Centennial Anniversary in 2015.

“Raggedy Ann and Andy are beloved by many generations of Americans and have proven to be major collectibles,” said Michael Kessler, Aurora World’s senior vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Support Our Troops is a wonderful organization and we’re thrilled to support it through this new program.”

Support Our Troops Raggedy Ann and Andy will be available for $29 MSRP online at Amazon.com as well as at major retailers, from July 4th 2016 through mid-2017. The program will be supported by social media campaigns with giveaways for the upcoming Veterans Day, as well as a special sale on the Aurora World website.
