For 24 years, Michael Davis has called Long Beach staple Babcock & Cooke home.

The longtime Belmont Heights card and gift shop has been 43-year-old Davis’ place of employment since he was 19.

However, four months ago, his boss and longtime friend, Gregory Taylor, announced he had Lou Gehrig’s disease and the store that has been his life and dream for 30 years would close.
