New owner of basket shop to highlight local wines, beers
The new owner of the Frederick Basket Co. is increasing the focus on local wines and beers, while continuing the products that has made the store successful.
Vicki Moore said 15 years ago she made a fruit basket for a party and liked it so much she started a home-based business in gift baskets.
She had a background in human resources and marketed to companies’ HR departments. The business grew so fast that in two and a half years, Moore had to close the business as she couldn’t keep up with the demand.
“I’ve always been very creative and enjoyed painting, crafts, scrapbooking, flower design and jewelry making,” she said.
More recently, she has been in the real estate and title insurance fields. She had been a customer at Frederick Basket Co. and when the opportunity came to purchase it, she took it.
“I plan on keeping the core business of the store,” she said of the shop at 12 N. East St. in Everedy Square.
She will offer corporate gifts, as well as new hire, baby, congratulations, sympathy, new home, etc.
“I will be available to work with businesses on gifts for conventions, trade shows and annual meetings by offering companies logo items, regional items and specific Frederick items.”
