Berea shop’s wide selection comes naturally
There are many things you won’t find at Naturally Gifts in Berea. What you will find is a delightful and unique assortment of items to treat a lucky gift recipient — or yourself.
Located at 2 Berea Commons, Naturally Gifts has a surprisingly wide variety of items, many of which are based on nature-related subjects. Hence, the name.
Owner Beverly Maxwell has owned the shop for 17 years. She had been a longtime customer of Berea mainstay Elizabeth Ragg and eventually took over that business. “I liked her card line and gifts,” Maxwell said, “and wanted to continue that.”
She is also passionate about products made in the United States and by local artisans. So you will find Lovell Designs jewelry made by a Portland, Maine, designer with a nature theme and another featuring one-of-a-kind designs made in Mount Vernon.
A full line of Marian Heath greeting cards awaits, and they are delightful. You can still purchase a card for 45 cents up to $3.95.
The Arcadia Picture Books of local history and Cat’s Meow pieces reflect Berea and Ohio State — including Berea’s own Jim Tressel (just $20) for you OSU fans.
“I like supporting local artists and causes,” Maxwell said, showing a display of items being sold by the Berea VFW to help restore the arch at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.
There are some wonderfully unique pieces of pottery including a line from Vermont in which the artist embeds New England flowers into the design. Hadley Pottery, from Kentucky, features designs used since the 1940s with animal themes that would be wonderful gifts for youngsters. It would be a great way to start them collecting.
