Better Homes & Gardens unveils 2023 Color of the Year

Better Homes & Gardens has announced Canyon Ridge as the brand’s second annual selection for Color of the Year. A subtle spin on terracotta, the color is described by BHG editors as “skews more sunbaked clay than cayenne pepper, for a near neutral ideal on walls. The warm tone infuses energy and comfort into any space.”

Canyon Ridge brings a sun-baked, cozy warmth that is deep-rooted in the comforts of home. The color is a versatile design choice and works well painted across a full room or as a subtle accent wall.  This year’s pick was also inspired by nature, playing off last year’s dusty green tones. Instead of lush greens, this year’s choice was inspired by sunsets over sweeping desert landscapes, like the red rock spires of Zion National Park.

“Orange and blue are opposites on the color wheel, which makes them a can’t miss combination,” says Jessica Thomas, BHG style director. “The soft terracotta color pairs particularly well with cobalt, as featured on the cover of the BHG October issue. “Cobalt has a vibrancy that makes this classic pairing feel modern. Rustic rooms may call for darker denim blue accents, so for traditional decor, make it navy.”
