Strong key buyer attendance mark a successful NSS

WHITE PLAINS, NY — Robust order writing, top quality buyer attendance from across the world, hundreds of new companies staging their industry debut, among the 1,100+ exhibiting companies, and countless new product collection releases set the stage for a vibrant and exciting 62nd annual National Stationery Show (NSS), May 18-21, 2008, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. Nearly 13,500 retailers took advantage of the wealth of opportunities to discover new companies, write business, network and learn.

“This year’s National Stationery Show was incredible — very positive and productive,” said Patti Stracher show manager. “There was a palpable buzz throughout the building each day of the Show. In addition to the new product and gorgeous booths on each aisle, first-time NSS exhibitors added a fresh, modern feel to the business environment. This community of new vendors represents tomorrow’s industry greats, and it’s very exciting to present them to the industry through the National Stationery Show.”

Exhibitors reported an impressive list of key buyers, and cited NSS as their single annual opportunity to meet face-to-face with these sought-after retailers. Executives from A.C. Moore, Anthropologie, Barney’s, Barnes & Noble, Blue Tulip, Cracker Barrel, Crate & Barrel, Harrad’s, Hobby Lobby, Kate’s Paperie, Paper Chase, Marks & Spencer, Michael’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and other high profile buyers were observed in the aisles, in addition to thousands of independent retailers and specialty boutiques from across the US and around the world.

HEARD FROM EXHIBITORS
“We had our best show ever, and met our sales goal by the end of day two,” said Anna Griffin, president of Anna Griffin Incorporated. “Not only did we write the most business, we met with buyers from companies that were on our ‘wish list’ to sell to. The National Stationery Show is the place to be for anyone serious about paper. It is a glittering showcase of the best the industry has to offer.”

“The National Stationery Show is always a huge success for us,” said Josh Rifkin, national sales director for Pomegranate. “Sales at this Show have increased every year. Not only did we write more orders as well as total dollars, but we had outstanding meetings with key accounts. In addition, we made contact with some exciting new large prospective accounts.”

“I’ve never participated in the National Stationery Show without making a major key connection that helped my business take a giant leap forward,” said Eartha McClelland, senior vice president of sales of ICU Eyewear.

The 63rd annual National Stationery Show, the nation’s leading marketplace for the social stationery industry, will run Sunday, May 17, through Wednesday, May 20, 2009, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The Show will feature 1,200 exhibitors and attract some 15,000 buyers and other industry executives. It will once again collocate with The Supply Side, an annual exposition featuring suppliers to the social stationery, giftware and graphic arts industries; SURTEX, North America’s premier international trade show for selling and licensing art and design; and the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), North America’s singular showcase for contemporary design.
