Rochester, NY – Craig Sykut is getting ready again for the Valentine’s Day rush. After that, it’s quickly on to Easter.

It’s been the same kind of routine for nearly a century at Andy’s Candies, where Sykut is a fourth-generation owner. His great-grandfather, Andrew Sykut, started the business in 1917 at 1100 Hudson Ave., just south of Norton Street. That location now is the factory where candy is made for Andy’s suburban stores.

Craig Sykut literally was a kid in a candy store growing up. Now 34, he admits that the appeal drains when you’re around it all the time.
