Carter Candles to Benefit Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation Launched

The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation, Inc. (JRCPF) has announced the introduction of their beautiful new line of commemorative candles called Carter Candles. Proceeds from the sales of these candles enable the Foundation to make it possible for students in the US and around the world to include community service projects into their academic courses – to the benefit of the community and the students.

Carter Candles will be available at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market March 6, 7 and 8, 2008.

The candles are signed by President & Mrs. Jimmy Carter and come with a message:”From darkness to light these candles symbolize the hope illuminated for communities around the world in harmony with higher education to make life better for each other. Your support for the brilliance of partnership and the Jimmy & Rosalynn Carter Partnership Foundation is important and appreciated”

The light from the candles is a symbolic representation of knowledge and hope. By contributing to the JRCPF and receiving the Carter Candles you provide support to this important work of promoting student-led community service projects and college-community partnership programs. Based on the values and principles of Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter, JRCPF works around the world to build a bridge for a better tomorrow between colleges and communities, thereby helping students develop social responsibility and citizenship. JRCPF has affiliation programs in North America, Europe, India and South Africa.

Mrs. Rosalynn Carter has said: “As the value of granting credit for academic service-learning becomes better understood, and the practice becomes common, serving will become an integral part of a college education and teach students the meaning of citizenship” President Carter has called JRCPF programs a “sterling jewel” in education.

JRCPF provides grants to support student community service projects and presents awards to the best college-community partnership programs. It also supports an on-line community for academic service learning for students, faculty and community – www.ServiceBook.org. The recognition received through awards and grants have attracted more student participants and more funding for many.
