F.S. Chocolatiers: Sweet treats keeping sisters busy
Mansfield — The owners of F.S. Chocolatiers love making, selling and eating chocolate.
Co-owner Amy Murray said despite the troubled economy, a lot of local people are buying their chocolate products.
“Business is good,” she told the News Journal in a recent interview. “People still want to treat themselves, maybe not to the same extent that they did, but they’re still buying smaller amounts.”
Murray and two of her sisters, Tammy Grauer and Sara Jones, opened the Lexington-Springmill Road shop in 2002.
Two doors down from the Ontario Barnes & Noble, a sign reading “Thrifty Thursdays” tempts plaza shoppers with chocolate-covered strawberries — a F.S. Chocolatiers specialty — four for $5. The special changes every week.
Inside, Jones was busy dipping the plump red berries into a large bowl of soft brown chocolate.
The women try to keep prices affordable, even while the cost of sugar and cocoa beans have increased. “We think we offer good value for what we give,” Murray said.
