Colonial Candle Supports Efforts to Find a Cure, Provide Access to Care with First Pretty in Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Candle

Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the U.S., with an estimated 1 in 8 women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer. To support research to find a cure, Colonial Candle, national leader in premium candles, introduces its first Pretty in Pink breast cancer awareness candle, with 10 percent of proceeds donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Available in time for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Colonial Candle’s Pretty in Pink features a 16-ounce, three-wick candle in soft petal pink poured in the company’s signature oval-shaped glass container bearing a contemporary pink ribbon symbolic of the fight against breast cancer. Colonial Candle’s exclusive Pretty in Pink fragrance features a soft floral blend of gardenia and jasmine topped with fresh greens. Suggested retail price is $25 each. The Pretty in Pink candle is available for ordering now with shipping beginning mid-September. Commemorating its 20th anniversary this year, the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade has donated more than $740 million for research and advancing access to care, regardless of a person’s ability to pay. The Avon Breast Cancer Crusade awards funding to beneficiaries ranging from leading cancer centers to community-based grassroots breast health programs to support breast cancer research and access to care. The Crusade has enabled more than 17 million women globally to receive free mammograms and breast cancer screenings, educated more than 100 million women about breast cancer, and funded promising research into the causes of breast cancer and ways to prevent the disease.

“With more than 2.6 million breast cancer survivors in the U.S., nearly all of us have been impacted by the disease in some way, whether we know someone who is currently battling it or we have a family member or friend who is a breast cancer survivor,” says Beth Sturm, Colonial Candle Director of Brand Development. “While significant advances have been made in early detection and treatments for breast cancer, there’s more work to be done to find a cure, and Colonial Candle is honored to help fund breast cancer research and access to care through our new Pretty in Pink candle.”

“We are so pleased to have Colonial Candle’s support of the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade as we commemorate 20 years of funding organizations nationwide that are making great strides in breast cancer research and care,” said Carol Kurzig, president of the Avon Foundation for Women. “But there is still much more work to be done to end breast cancer, and until we do, to help turn more diagnoses into stories of survival. We greatly appreciate supporters like Colonial Candle that are helping us work towards creating a world without breast cancer.”
