Comfort and creativity shape Atlanta Apparel trend report

Atlanta Apparel has released its exclusive semi-annual trend report, developed by its in-house fashion office, previewing upcoming Spring/Summer 2023 colors, prints and styles available at the upcoming October Atlanta Apparel, October 11-15 at AmericasMart Atlanta.

“Spring/Summer 2023 trends have a strong focus on optimism and creativity as consumers look to shed the constraints of the last few challenging years,” said Morgan Ramage, Atlanta Apparel Fashion Director. “In response, Atlanta Apparel’s October market will showcase a mix of bright colors alongside comfortable neutrals, lots of innovation, emphasis on quality and playful prints, details and materials.”

Key Colors

The key colors for Spring/Summer 2023 include shades of natural and nostalgic tones alongside celebratory brights, such as key colors: Luscious Red, Digital Lavender, Sundial Yellow, Verdigris Green and Tranquil Blue. Deeper hues, not typically associated with Spring and Summer, also will add an unexpected directional update and will make an impact across the season and into the trans-seasonal autumn period.

Key Themes

For the upcoming Spring/Summer buying season, key trend themes reflect a rush of creativity, innovation, quality and versatility with a renewed celebration of life. The three trend themes for Spring/Summer 2023 are: full spectrum – digital influence, bold patterns and expressive; soul space – quest for contentment via relaxed silhouettes, soothing color patterns, naturally-derived prints and boho; and design wise – smart, simple, solution-driven products and inclusive, hardworking pieces.

Apparel

Apparel trends will follow the trend themes and key colors across silhouettes and styles: mini, wrap and column skirts will allow for further comfort and individualization in sizing; slouchy trousers, utility carpenter trousers, 90s, skinny, minimalist trousers and vacation shorts will allow for personalization through relaxed fit, innovation and further comfort; tops will emphasize the optimism and craft in crochet, artisanal, halter neck, front-tie and wrap-top styles; dresses will cover a wide variety of purposes, from utility to style with patchwork and knit maxis, halter midis, boxer minis, active dresses and cut-out beach dresses; and swim will follow 90s, minimalist, tiny styles with asymmetrical cuts, strappy designs, collage fabrics and cutouts.

Footwear

Footwear trends for Spring/Summer ’23 provide comfort while showcasing the desire to dress up and celebrate through soft finishes and easy indoor and outdoor styles: puff slides, 90s flatforms and platforms, bling buckles, hardware slides, mid-heel mules, sustainable and artistic sneakers, mary jane flats, and tie-up designs.

Accessories

Accessories will be crafted with long-term design and sustainability in mind with qualities that align with a more flexible lifestyle: party set earrings, layered and beaded necklaces with pendants, retro- and hexagon-shaped sunglasses, body and belly chains, woven bucket hats, beach bags, mini handbags and everyday underarm bags.

“People are wanting to show off while dressing comfortably, and Atlanta Apparel’s exhibitors are ready to showcase those trends in just a few weeks,” added Ramage. “We look forward to welcoming the industry to AmericasMart Atlanta to source the styles that will take Spring and Summer by storm.”
