Dallas Market Center Honored as Top 100 Place to Work in D-FW
Dallas Market Center (DMC), the world’s most complete wholesale marketplace, today announced that it has been recognized by The Dallas Morning News as one of the Top 100 Places to Work in D-FW for 2011. This year’s list of the best places to work in the area includes 25 large companies, 35 midsize companies and 40 small companies. Dallas Market Center is featured in the midsize companies category.
“It is an honor to be included in the Top 100 list,” said Bill Winsor, president and CEO, Dallas Market Center. “As we approach Dallas Market Center’s 55th anniversary, we celebrate the decades of success and our associates that make us the best wholesale marketplace.”
Dallas Market Center welcomes 200,000 buyers and conducts more than 50 trade and special events annually. Founded in 1957 by real estate developer Trammell Crow and managed by Market Center Management Company (MCMC), the marketplace brings together specialty and department store buyers, wholesalers, manufacturers, product designers and interior design professionals from all 50 states and 78 countries.
Dallas Market Center has a corporate culture that allows employees to dress casually during non-market weeks, listen to music as they work, and much more. The creative flow of ideas is encouraged through a spacious, open-office design. Employees are given paid holidays including each associate’s birthday, and monthly office celebrations are held to celebrate employees with recent birthdays and company anniversaries. Many associates have been with DMC for decades.
To qualify for the Top 100 list, a company must first be nominated by an individual. Once a company has been nominated, employees are asked to fill out a survey to gauge how they feel about their job and workplace. More than 1,100 companies were nominated for this year’s list.
