Iowa City, IA – An Iowa City graphic designer is looking to give her business — and old furniture — a second chance on the market.

Leigh Bradford opened A. Marvel Home Decor, 511 Iowa Ave., on April 27. The store is the third incarnation of Meta Home, a home decor shop initially housed at 119 E. Washington St. between 2001 and 2010, then at 115 Fifth St. in Coralville between 2010 and 2012.

The Kansas City, Kan., native said Meta Home received solid traffic at its first Iowa City location, spurred largely by older professionals purchasing the glass-and-chrome-heavy modernist furniture she favored. The move to Coralville came from her desire to work near a higher density of furniture stores and provide more accessible parking — but business was slower than expected.
