GLM And Dror Benshetrit Partner to Enhance Accent on Design

White Plains, NY – Emerging design resources, and the overall ambient design of Accent on Design will expand through GLM’s partnership with Dror Benshetrit, a multidisciplinary designer specializing in product design, architecture, and art direction, to introduce “A+ – the young designer’s platform at Accent on Design,” a newly-developed “incubator” program launching at the February 2008 New York International Gift Fair.

A+ will spotlight emerging talents alongside established contemporary design resources. Dror Benshetrit, acclaimed designer and founder of Studio Dror in New York City, will be the principal designer of the space, curator of participants and overseer of installation. In cooperation with GLM, Benshetrit will select a small group of promising designers; including students, recent graduates or young companies (in business for one year or less) to display their work – whether finished products of prototypes – within A+.

Benshetrit also will implement a number of aesthetic changes to the overall ambient design environment of the Accent on Design entrance area. Accent on Design is located on Level 3 of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, and is one of nine carefully categorized divisions of NYIGF.

“Dror has a unique, sophisticated style, and his work offers multiple layers of design inspiration,” said Dorothy Belshaw, GLM senior vice president and NYIGF director. “This is an exclusive opportunity for buyers to preview the next generation of design concepts in an exceptional setting.”

Studio Dror is a multidisciplinary design company specializing in product design, architecture, and art direction. “Studio Dror offers up a sensitive interpretation of movement and modern aesthetic which complement the Accent on Design culture perfectly,” said Benshetrit. “On a personal level, I can relate to these young designers as they embark upon their careers and am pleased to be a part of their debut.”

For more than 20 years, Accent on Design has presented a juried collection of 200 contemporary and innovative product lines across all categories. The introduction of A+ gives new design talents their first opportunity for exposure to a market that could otherwise be beyond their financial resources. Accent on Design runs Saturday, February 2, through Wednesday, February 6, at New York City’s Javits Center.

NYIGF is the nation’s premier gift and home accessory marketplace, with 2,700+ exhibitors featuring an extraordinary breadth and depth of design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware. NYIGF is held concurrently with EX∑TRACTS: New discoveries in beauty and wellness at the Javits Center and Home Textiles Market Week at the Javits Center and Pier 94, 230 Fifth Avenue and 7 West 34th Street. More than 40,000 buyers from around the world are expected to attend.

Additional information and registration is available online at nyigf.com, or by contacting GLM by telephone at 1-800-272-SHOW (7469), or (603) 665-7524.
